The run won’t end with the Q8. Those are the latest news we are getting from the Ingolstadt carmaker. After the recent launch of the mid-size coupe crossover, it looks like the German manufacturer is finally about to enter the full-size segment. Key rivals BMW and Mercedes-Benz already have their players in this segment, so it was about time see an answer from Audi. Allegedly, the new model will come pretty soon, probably in about a year, with even more impressive design than the new Q8. Logically, the new model will be named as 2020 Audi Q9.
2020 Audi Q9 Redesign
In terms of base design characteristics, there is no doubt that the 2020 Audi Q9 will rely on the company’s proven design solutions, especially when it comes to mechanics. We have no doubt that the new model will also ride on a familiar MLB platform, which currently underprints a plethora of luxury mid-size crossover, such as Q7 and Q8, Bentley Bentayga, Lamborghini Urus and, of course, Porsche Cayenne, which will get a coupe version soon.
Naturally, the architecture will be stretched for this occasion, as the new model will have to be as large as key rivals. Some reports even suggest that the 2020 Audi Q9 won’t be just another crossover. Audi may try to stand out with a vehicle that is actually off-road capable. That would mean a similar approach to the Range Rover, which offers spectacular off-road performances, despite it rides on a unibody platform. More details should be known in the near future.
Styling
Of course, one of the most important things about the new model will be its styling. The 2020 Audi Q9 will certainly take a lot of inspiration from the new Q8. That would mean a lot of sharp edges. Still, it will feature a common wagon body style, not a sloping roof design. This will be a typical SUV, with standard three rows of seats and expansive cargo area. Also, keep in mind that this is going to be a flagship model, which clearly indicates a full load of exclusive styling details, which will make this SUV more distinctive.

Once again, we expect to see a lot of inspiration from smaller models. Of course, models like Q8 and A8 come to mind first. These two models feature essentially the same dashboard designs, which are characterized by clean horizontal lines, hi-end materials and an impressive amount of tech features. We expect smaller tweaks from the 2020 Audi Q9, though we have no doubt that controls will be almost completely digitalized. This will be a pretty large vehicle, so there is no doubt that three rows of seats will be standard features, while the cargo area should be spacious as well.

2020 Audi Q9 Engines
When it comes to powertrain, we count on familiar VW Group engines. Base models will probably feature a familiar 3.0-liter V6, which is good for about 335 horsepower. Of course, we count on more powerful versions as well. These models will feature a 4.0-liter V8, which comes in different output configurations.
Also, count on the electrified version. Latest reports are suggesting a new system that is based on a 2.9-liter V6 engine, which is good for about 445 horsepower and 443 pound-feet of torque.
In Europe, we count on diesel versions as well.
2020 Audi Q9 Release Date and Price
The German manufacturer is still considering the possibility to produce this moment. The final decision will come soon and then we will know is the 2020 Audi Q9 going to come or not. When it comes to the price, we presume that the new model would go around 75.000 dollars.
