2020 BMW X8 Redesign, Interior, Price

After the recent launch of the new full-size X7, we are waiting to see its coupe-like sibling. Of course, we are talking about the 2020 BMW X8, which is expected to come in the near future. According to the naming policy of the Bavarian carmaker, even-numbered models are characterized by coupe layout, so we have no doubt that the X8 will come in the same manner. Expect to see the same relationship with the X7, like the one we can see between X5 and X6 models, for example. Of course, count on a fine amount of distinctive details as well. At this point, we are still waiting to hear something from the officials, so we talking about something more detailed. For now, we will stick to the most basic design characteristics only. A more precise launch date is still in a domain of speculations, despite some reports suggest next year.

2020 BMW X8 Design

In terms of base design characteristics, the new 2020 BMW X8 will closely stick to the new X7 model. Once again, we are about to see a relation which can be seen between X5 and X6, or between X3 and X4. Therefore, count on almost identical mechanics to the X7 model. In practice, this means the company’s new, highly modular CLAR platform, which underprints pretty much everything that came out from the factory in past few years. Two models will probably feature the same wheelbase, though this one is about to come with shorter overhangs, in order to gain more exclusive appearance.

One of the most interesting design solutions of the new 2020 BMW X8 will be self-leveling air suspension, which can be raised or lowered by 1.6 inches. The vehicle automatically goes down for about 0.8 inches at speeds that are higher than 86 mph. Speaking of the suspension, we count on the same setup, which means double-wishbone at the front and multi-link at the rear axle.

2020 BMW X8 Styling

When it comes to the stylish, the most distinctive thing about the 2020 BMW X8 will be its shape. Like other even-numbered models from the lineup, this one will also come in a coupe-like layout. This means a sloping roof, in a fastback manner. Therefore, the rear end will be quite different compared to the X7 model. On the other side, the front end should be pretty much the same. That would mean the newest design language, inspired by the X7 performance concept. In practice, this means the evolution of the company’s famous design philosophy, which relies on the famous kindle grille design, which gets even bigger for this occasion. Compared to older models from the lineup, the complete approach in styling is about shaper and more angular lines.

2020 BMW X8 Interior

On the inside, the 2020 BMW X8 will definitely feature the same dashboard design as the X7. If we start from the scratch, this dash looks pretty similar to the rest of the lineup, but there is a huge number of styling solution that makes it more distinctive and exclusive. Naturally, this model will come with hi-end materials.

On the other side, the 2020 BMW X8 definitely won’t be as practical as its odd-numbered sibling. Due to the sloping roof design, we can count on less headroom in the second row. However, we are still talking about a full-size vehicle, with a pretty long wheelbase, so we have no doubt that both rows will be very spacious and comfortable. On the other side, the cargo area definitely won’t feature some spectacular numbers.

As a flagship model, the 2020 BMW X8 is expected to come with a full load of standard equipment. We have no doubt that BMW will offer pretty much everything from its palette of latest tech features and advanced safety features and driver aids.

2020 BMW X8 Engines

The engine lineup is probably the most certain thing about the 2020 BMW X8. It will mimic the X7 model, so count on two gasoline and two diesel options. Base models will feature a familiar 3.0-liter inline-six engine, which is good for about 335 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque. A well-known 4.4-liter V8 will be in the offer as well. This one delivers 456 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque.

When it comes to diesel engines, count on a 3.0-liter inline-six unit. It its base version, it delivers around 260 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. It also comes in quad-turbo version, with a max output of 395 hp and 560 lb-ft of torque. Of course, we count on hi-performance, M-badged version in the future as well.
