The EcoSport is one of the rare models in the company’s lineup that still waits to adopt the company’s new design language. The current model has been around since 2013 and most reports suggest a complete redesign for the next year. For such occasion, the 2020 Ford Ecosport would definitely come with lots of changes. Besides a completely new styling, we count on new mechanics as well. Of course, the new model would be based on the popular subcompact Fiesta once again.
Two models will share the platform, engines and rest of the mechanics. Speaking of the engines, we count on significant improvements, considering that units in the current generation seem a little bit underpowered, compared to the competition. All in all, a big amount of changes is definitely coming. It will be very interesting to see how the new 2020 Ford Ecosport will look like. As we already mentioned, we expect to see it sometime in the next year.

2020 Ford Ecosport Redesign
There’s no doubt that changes in some aspects will be significant. The 2020 Ford Ecosport redesign is about to bring us novelties in various aspects, especially in terms of the styling, interior design, powertrain etc. The new model will ride on a new platform. Of course, it is a new version of the company’s familiar B Global platform, which also underpins the seventh generation of the popular Fiesta subcompact hatchback. Compared to the current model, the 2020 Ford Ecosport will come with various improvements and better driving experience is the first thing that comes to mind. Better handling and driving dynamics are the things we expect, as well as a higher level of overall comfort. In terms of size, we don’t expect to see any significant changes. The new model could get a couple of inches in wheelbase and overall length, but general proportions will largely remain the same.
2020 Ford Ecosport Styling
This is the aspect where we expect to see a lot of interesting things. The current generation of this crossover is one of the rare Ford models that still follows design language that belongs to the previous generation of the company’s models. Therefore, count on a lot of novelties in the 2020 Ford Ecosport. Practically, we expect a lot of details borrowed from the new Fiesta. This refers not just to the front face, but to the overall shape as well.
Of course, count on an application of the brand’s latest design language, which already characterizes models like Fiesta, Focus, as well as the upcoming Escape. The 2020 Ford Ecosport will come in the same manner, with the same grille and headlights reshaping. Same goes for the rear end and the rest of the crossover, which should come with a familiar hatchback-like shape, fulfilled with black plastics and rest of the body protection.

2020 Ford Ecosport Interior
This is just another area where we expect a lot from the model. The current model comes with a cabin design, which is typical for the class in terms of materials. It comes with lots of hard plastics, but a bigger concern is an outdated design. This model dates from six years ago, so it’s no wonder that most rivals look fresher. Therefore, the dashboard is about to come with a completely new layout. We expect to see a similar approach to what we have seen in the current-generation Fiesta. As you may know, Ford’s newest interior layouts balance pretty well between with new digital controls. Many buttons and knobs are still physical, which is still preferred by most drivers. Still, this doesn’t mean we won’t see a large touchscreen on the center stack, along with the company’s latest infotainment system and other tech goodies.

2020 Ford Ecosport Engines
The new generation of this subcompact crossover is expected to come with significantly more power, as the current model has often been criticized for lackluster acceleration and below-average performances. Therefore, we presume that base versions of the new generation will come with the most powerful version of a small 1.0-liter EcoBoost unit. It delivers around 140 horsepower. Also, we are pretty sure that currently-optional 2.0-liter unit with around 160 horsepower is also about to be replaced. Most reports suggest a new 1.5-liter EcoBoost engine, which delivers full 200 horsepower. Outside North America, the new crossover should be available in diesel versions as well, with a new 1.5-liter Duratorq engine that delivers around 120 horsepower. Finally, expect to see an electrified version in the near future.

2020 Ford Ecosport Release Date and Price
The 2020 Ford Ecosport should arrive in the next year if we can rely on the latest reports. When it comes to the price, we expect that base model won’t go far away from the current model. That would mean a starting price of around 20.000 dollars. Competition in the segment is pretty tough. Some of the key players in the class are models like Hyundai Kona, Honda HR-V, Toyota C-HR, Mazda CX-3 etc.
