The popular mid-size crossover has been on the road for many years and it is still one of the most important models for Hyundai. The current generation came just recently, with loads of novelties. Still, that doesn’t mean there are no new things to come for the next year. First of all, we are expecting a new three-row version to come, which is definitely highly anticipated by most potential drivers. However, that won’t be all. The 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe is also about to come in a new, performance version, under the company’s familiar “N” badge.
This model will come with a lot of upgrades, including a more powerful engine. On the other side, a standard two-row version should continue in the same way, without more important updates. All versions should hit the market sometime in the last quarter of the year, though exact details are still unknown.

2020 Hyundai Santa Fe Redesign
In terms of the base design characteristics, we know for sure that standard two-row models won’t change. The recent redesign has brought a lot of novelties, so the second production year shouldn’t bring anything more important. There is a new design, as well as a completely new styling, significantly more attractive than before. Therefore, we expect to see nothing but a couple of new color options.
When it comes to the new three-row version, we have no doubt it will be fitted to the new design language as well. Compared to the two-row model, it will feature stretched wheelbase, as well as with longer overhangs, so we may presume that the cabin will be notably more spacious. However, the exact details are still unknown, though we have no doubt that there will be a couple of distinctive solutions as well.
Interior
The new cabin is definitely a nice place to be. It is full of quality materials and attractive color schemes, while the dashboard features pretty clean and horizontal shapes, in a manner of luxury cars. Of course, it is highlighted by a large touchscreen at the center console, as well as with even larger digital instrument cluster. Of course, the new version will come with three rows of space and if we consider the latest reports, the cabin should be more spacious than before.

We hope that the Korean manufacturer will be able to solve problems that characterize the outgoing model. Those are pretty typical issues that characterize most mid-size crossovers – tight third row and small cargo area. However, the outgoing model features below-average ratings, so we expect a slight improvement for this occasion. Also, we should see a couple of additions in terms of standard features for the next year.
Powertrain
Novelties are expected under the hood as well. First of all, two-row models are expected to carry on in the same way. Base models will feature a smaller 1.6-liter turbo-four engine, which is good for about 180 horsepower. It seems like a decent amount of power for a daily ride, but most drivers would probably prefer something quicker. Therefore, you can opt for a bigger 2.0-liter turbo-four, which is good for about 235 horsepower, which seems like a perfect measure for this crossover.
The new three-row version is expected to carry on with a familiar 3.3-liter V6 engine. It currently delivers around 290 horsepower but we could see a slight boost for this occasion.
Some reports were even suggesting a diesel version to come to North America. However, it looks like it won’t happen. More likely, the Korean manufacturer will probably introduce a hybrid version in the next few years.
2020 Hyundai Santa Fe N
One of the most interesting novelties for the next year will be a new performance version. Of course, it will carry the familiar “N” badge and will feature a lot of upgrades. First of all, this performance version will be reserved for two-row models. Therefore, it’s no wonder we are about to see the same 2.0-liter turbo-four under the hood. However, it will come with a nice power boost. Latest reports are suggesting a max output of at least 275 horsepower. Besides more power, it will come with several other mechanical upgrades. Of course, the first one that comes to mind is a new suspension setup, as well as new brakes. Naturally, various visual upgrades are about to come, starting from new bumpers, trimming, wheels and many other sporty details.

2020 Hyundai Santa Fe Release Date and Price
All versions of the 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe are expected to come in the last quarter of the year. Base two-row models will go around 25.000 dollars, while the new three-row version will probably feature starting price of around 32.000 dollars. Details about the new performance version are still unknown.
