2020 Jeep Wagoneer Is Coming Back!

The legendary nameplate is coming back as the 2020 Jeep Wagoneer. Those are the latest reports about the SUV that has been discontinued decades ago. The new model is about to come in the next year, bigger and better than ever, reports say. This clearly means that we are waiting for a full-size SUV, something that FCA doesn’t have in its offer for a very long time. Naturally, the company wants a model that will be able to compete with models like the Ford Expedition and Chevy Tahoe/Suburban. Some reports even suggest the new model would compete in premium class, but that doesn’t seem much likely at the moment. In any case, this is a completely new model, so count on a lot of novelties in all aspects, starting from the exterior design, new engines, technologies, features etc. We should see it sometime in the next year.

2020 Jeep Wagoneer Specs

Although a well-known name in the automotive industry, the 2020 Jeep Wagoneer is practically a brand-new model. It is something that FCA didn’t have for so many years. Of course, we are talking about a full-size SUV segment, which doesn’t just bring a lot of money for every manufacturer, but it is also a matter of prestige, especially for a company that is specialized for off-road vehicles.

So, the first thing that comes to mind is the platform. Although the company still keeps all specs as secret, we can use logic and easily make a conclusion that the 2020 Jeep Wagoneer will use the same architecture as the recently-redesigned Ram 1500. That would mean a new lot of new technologies, including massive use of advanced HSS, as well as aluminum. Also, we presume the 2020 Jeep Wagoneer will come with air suspension. Moreover, an independent rear suspension sounds logical, considering that rivals already have that feature.

2020 Jeep Wagoneer Exterior Design

This aspect of the new 2020 Jeep Wagoneer is still a bit of a mystery. The fact is that we are still waiting for a vehicle that will introduce Jeep’s new design language and that could easily be this one. Still, we can presume that the overall shape will be rather conventional. Count on a typical three-row SUV body, but also count on a stretched-wheelbase version, which will also feature longer rear overhang, in order to provide more space in the cargo area. Aesthetically, we expect to see a pretty much typical Jeep layout. Of course, there will be a lot of details, but we will definitely see Jeep’s trademark details, such as the famous grille layout with multiple vertical bars. On the other side, don’t count on those famous wood panels that characterized this SUV in the past.

Interior

It seems way to early to speculate about the interior design. Still, we know some of the most general things about the 2020 Jeep Wagoneer. Considering the size and shape, there’s no doubt that the cabin will be large and functional. Three rows of seats will be standard, while the stretched version will provide even more legroom and cargo volume. Of course, we count on a completely new interior layout and we have no doubt it will look very nice. Generally, Jeep models are known for upscale interiors, so there is no reason to expect anything different in the 2020 Jeep Wagoneer. Quality materials and a lot of styles is something you can expect from a new model. Moreover, count on a full load of the latest tech features, including advanced driver aids.

2020 Jeep Wagoneer Engines

One of the biggest novelties for the 2020 Jeep Wagoneer will come under the hood. Allegedly, it will be the first model to come with the company’s new inline-six engine. According to the manufacturer, this unit will be very efficient, on par with Hemi engines when it comes to max output. The exact numbers are still unavailable, but we may presume it may even go up to full 400 horsepower, considering it will feature twin turbochargers.

Other than that, we count on typical V8 units in the offer, both 5.7-liter and 6.4-liter engines. Some reports even suggest a hi-performance version with a powerful 6.2-liter Hellcat, but there are still no words from the officials on that matter. Also, there is a big chance to see a diesel version. Of course, this model would feature a well-known 3.0-liter turbodiesel from VM Motori, which delivers around 260 horsepower and 440 pound-feet of torque.

Release Date and Price

The 2020 Jeep Wagoneer is definitely coming. Latest reports suggest next year, but we still can’t say anything more specific about the launch date. Of course, the second half of the year seems more likely. When it comes to the price, base models are expected to go around 50.000 dollars. Of course, key rivals will be models like Chevy Tahoe/Suburban and Ford Expedition.
