2020 Kia Soul Review, Colors, Changes, EV, Price, GT

Like all models from the Korean manufacturer, this small crossover has also evolved into a pretty amazing vehicle, which isn’t just affordable anymore but also offers a lot of amazing things. The 2020 Kia Soul comes completely redesigned, with a full load of novelties. Of course, there are new mechanics, new exterior design, interior etc. However, you won’t see any radical on the new model. The Soul continues the evolution that started more than a decade ago.

The familiar boxy shape is still here, now more attractive and even more practical. Also, it is important to mention that the new model comes with a significantly improved ride quality, as well as with a completely new cabin design, which now comes better-quality materials, more features etc. Also, there are novelties under the hood, while the all-electric version is expected to arrive as well, and that should happen pretty soon.

2020 Kia Soul Redesign

This redesign brings a lot of novelties. The first thing you’ll notice is that there are no radical changes at all. The familiar boxy shape is here and it didn’t change almost at all. Still, keep in mind that the new model is slightly bigger. There is a slight increase, so the new model features an additional 1.2 inches in wheelbase, and gets two more inches in length. This increase in size brings a slight improvement in terms of interior space, but more about this in the next paragraph.

The overall shape may look pretty familiar, but you can also notice a lot of novelties on the inside. The first thing you’ll notice is a new, pretty massive grille, which spreads all over the front bumper and takes most of the front fascia. Also, there are new LED headlights, which are narrower, in a manner of the latest Kia models. Another thing that you’ll easily notice is that the 2020 Kia Soul looks more muscular. These muscles are especially accentuated on fender flares and similar areas. The rear end comes with a new design as well, and a new taillight is definitely one of the highlights. It is much wider, which is highly beneficial in terms of practicality.

On the inside, this redesign brings some obvious improvements. The most notable thing about the new model is significantly improved quality. In the past, the Soul didn’t feature the finest cabin quality. This time, things are much better. It looks pretty upscale, thanks to nice materials all around the cabin, and thanks to a pretty stylish dashboard layout. Speaking on the dashboard, it is highlighted by a new, 7-inch touchscreen, which runs the company’s latest infotainment system, characterized by a lot of functions, great graphics and pretty intuitive menu.

These improvements are amazing, but the more important thing about the 2020 Kia Soul is that it didn’t lose any of its practicality and functionality. Thanks to a boxy shape, it features a lot of headroom in both rows, while the cargo area is very cargo friendly. As we already mentioned, the new model features a wider tailgate design, which makes loads and unloads even more convenient. As we already mentioned, the new model features a little bit longer wheelbase and overall length, so there is also a little bit more legroom than before.

New Trim Level Organization

Another great thing about the new model is that the trim level organization is now much simpler. The 2020 Kia Soul now uses the same designations as the rest of the lineup. So, you will find familiar trim levels like LX, S, X-Line, GT-Line, and EX, as well as familiar equipment groups.

2020 Kia Soul Engines

The new model comes with novelties under the hood as well. There is a new 2.0-liter engine, which is reserved for standard models. This unit delivers 147 horsepower and 132 pound-feet of torque, which seems just enough for a daily driver. Still, if you want something peppier, you can opt for a 1.6-liter turbo-four, which is good for about 201 horsepower and 195 pound-feet of torque. While the base engine comes paired with a CVT, this one comes with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. Unfortunately, AWD is not available.

As we already mentioned, the EV model is expected to arrive in the near future. However, we are still waiting for details.

When it comes to safety features, a good thing is that all models will come standard with the company’s familiar Drive Wise safety package. This suite of advanced systems includes things like blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping assistance, forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control, etc.
