2020 Subaru Crosstrek Colors, Hybrid, Turbo, Price

This small crossover is becoming more and more popular every year and that is for a good reason. Still, we don’t expect bigger changes for the 2020 Subaru Crosstrek. The current generation has been introduced less than two years ago, so it would be hard to expect bigger changes from a company that is well-known for its pretty conservative approach when it comes to styling and overall aesthetics. Therefore, the upcoming model is about to carry on in the same way.

The Impreza-based crossover has a lot of great things to offer, starting from good ride quality, spacious and well-built cabin and a lot of standard equipment. Also, there are two powertrain options, including a new plug-in hybrid system, which comes with two electric motors and a quite interesting design. All in all, the 2020 Subaru Crosstrek could possibly get new standard features and color options, but definitely want anything more than that.

2020 Subaru Crosstrek Redesign

In terms of base design characteristics, this is a typical Subaru. You can easily recognize a conventional design language, which has a lot in common with the bigger Forester. The current generation has been around since 2017 and this redesign was pretty evolutionary in all aspects. Of course, there is a typical Subaru AWD system, while most of the mechanics are borrowed from Impreza and Forester. That’s the main reason why it offers a pretty good ride quality and comfort. Also, the excellent AWD system ensures decent off-road performances as well, although we are actually talking about a small crossover.

Interior

The inside of this crossover is great, definitely one of the Crosstrek’s strongest points. The first thing you’ll notice is a well-built interior. It features not just hi-quality materials, but a lot of styles as well, so it does not wonder it looks better than most rivals in the class. The dashboard also looks pretty attractive and it is available in different color combination. Of course, there is a full load of tech goodies on the board, highlighted by a 6.5- or 8-inch touchscreen on the center stack.

The comfort is at a high level as well. The cabin is quite spacious, with plenty of room in both rows. The first row offers particularly generous legroom, while the seats are highly adjustable, so you won’t have bigger problems to find a perfect driving position. However, more side support would be nice.

When it comes to the cargo area, the Crosstrek is better than most rivals. You can count on about 21 cubic feet behind rear seats, while the overall capacity goes around 55 cubic feet, which are numbers that only a few rivals can match.

Features

Another aspect where the 2020 Subaru Crosstrek will be very strong is the list of standard equipment. Of course, we will probably see a couple of novelties, but things will generally remain the same as in the current model. Therefore, count on standard tech goodies like 6.5-inch touch screen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a USB port, Bluetooth etc. The only complaint goes to the audio system, which has only four speakers. Fortunately, things are much better in higher trims, where you can get an eight-speaker audio system. Other optional features are a bigger 8-inch screen, satellite radio, two additional USB ports, a Wi-Fi hot spot, navigation, moonroof etc.

When it comes to safety features, a rearview camera is standard. However, there is a long list of available features. Some of the highlights are things like blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, pre-collision braking, lane departure and sway warning, lane keep assist, automatic high beams etc.

2020 Subaru Crosstrek Engines

As we already mentioned, count on two familiar powertrain options. Base models will come with a familiar 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, which delivers around 152 horsepower and comes paired with a CVT gearbox. Such combination ensures a pretty smooth ride, but don’t expect any spectacular performances.

On the other side, there is a new plug-in hybrid system. It is based on the same 2.0-liter engine, which has been detuned to around 135 horsepower. In addition, you get two electric motors and 8.8-kWh battery pack. Interestingly, one of the electromotors works as a generator under regenerative braking. The other one is a typical traction motor. All in all, the combined output goes around 150 horsepower. You can count on about 17 miles of range and a max speed of 65 mph in all-electric range.

2020 Subaru Crosstrek Release Date and Price

Considering that there are no bigger changes to come for the 2020 Subaru Crosstrek, we probably won’t see it before the end of 2019. When it comes to the price, we don’t expect bigger changes. Base models should go around 22.000 dollars, while top-range models can get very close to 30.000 tags. When it comes to the competition, some of the key players in the segment are models like Hyundai Kona, Honda HR-V, Kia Soul, Mazda CX-3 etc.
