2021 Cadillac Escalade Interior, Pictures, Engine

GM is currently overhauling entire BoF SUV lineup and this includes premium models as well. The famous full-size luxury SUV has been a household name in the segment for decades. However, the current generation looks like it lost the pace with closest rivals, so we can say that this redesign is coming at the right time. The 2021 Cadillac Escalade is about to bring a full load of novelties.

Of course, we count on a completely new design, but the new model will also adopt GM’s new platform and come with some pretty nice design solutions and technologies. We count on new powertrain options as well, while the cabin is going to feature a completely new layout, with new aesthetics, new technologies etc. The new model is currently under development and we expect to see it in the next year. The 2021 Cadillac Escalade release date should be scheduled already for the first half of 2020.

2021 Cadillac Escalade Redesign

Count on a lot of novelties with this redesign. Among numerous 2021 Cadillac Escalade changes, one of the first things that come to mind is the platform. As you may presume, the new SUV will switch to GM’s latest T1 architecture. This platform debuted last year with the new Silverado and it will cover a complete SUV lineup of General Motors.

There is no doubt that the new 2021 Cadillac Escalade will benefit a lot from it. Better driving experience, improved comfort and new powertrain options are just some of the things that come to mind. Also, an important thing to mention is significant weight reduction, considering that the new model is about to save around 300 pounds. That should have a nice impact on efficiency, handling and overall performances.

Another novelty we should mention is an independent rear suspension. That will be a standard feature in the new model and it will bring significant improvements in terms of comfort. After all, the new Navigator already features such design and we could say the difference is obvious.

Styling

When it comes to styling, we are also about to see big improvements. The current model definitely shows signs of aging, but we are pretty sure that the new styling will make things right. From what we can see on rendering photos, the new model will stick to classic design solutions. The overall shape won’t change too much compared to the outgoing model.

On the other side, we will get a completely new face, which features much narrower headlights, while the familiar shield-like grille gets a new mesh pattern. A lot of design solutions have been borrowed from Cadillac’s latest crossover, including vertical lighting groups. Also, the rear end will feature new taillight, similar to XT4 and XT5 models.

Interior

When it comes to cabin design, we are still waiting for the exact details. Still, we can say that the company will have to deal with a couple of issues that characterize the current model. First of all, the third row is pretty tight in the current model, so we expect that the 2021 Cadillac Escalade interior will be more spacious, particularly in this area. Also, count on a new infotainment system, considering that the current isn’t the easiest one to use. Of course, we expect to see the same system as in new XT4 and XT5 models, though on a bigger screen.

Also, we expect to see the new infotainment controller, mounted on the center console. Another notable change we expect to see is a new shift-by-wire shift lever instead of an old-school column-mounted unit. Naturally, the whole cabin will get a new layout, with modern aesthetics and loads of advanced tech features.

2021 Cadillac Escalade Engines

When it comes to the powertrain department, we are about to see some interesting novelties, according to the latest reports. It looks like the company will offer a new 4.2-liter twin-turbo V8 in the flagship SUV. The new engine is pretty efficient and delivers around 550 horsepower, which would significantly improve performances of this SUV. Still, keep in mind that this engine will be reserved for higher-grade versions.

On the other side, base models will probably continue with a well-known 6.2-liter V8, which delivers around 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. It definitely doesn’t lack power, but the thing we like about it is a great fuel economy, especially on the highway. The engine should remain pretty much untouched for this redesign. Both engines will come in pair with a new 10-speed automatic transmission, which promises even better efficiency.
