Therefore, it seems logical to see further expansion in this aspect, which means new models as well. According to the latest reports, one of the novelties could be the 2021 Ford Excursion.
If the name sounds familiar to you, that’s because Ford already used it for a very ambitious project, which was about creating an HD SUV. The model was in production for 5-6 years but it was eventually discontinued, due to slow sales. Almost a decade and a half later, it looks like things are much different on the mark. Ford believes this model now has much bigger chances to be successful, so we are about to see another try from the company if we can trust the latest reports.

2021 Ford Excursion Redesign
When it comes to the base design characteristics, the 2021 Ford Excursion will rely on a proven formula, if we can trust these rumors. It looks like we are once again about to see a huge body-on-frame SUV, based on the Super Duty F-250 pickup truck. This means the same platform, the same mechanics, maybe even the same wheelbase. Currently, the biggest SUV in Ford’s offer is the Expedition Max, which measures almost 132 inches in the wheelbase.
For comparison, the original Excursion measured more than 137 inches between the axles. If the new 2021 Ford Excursion about to share the platform with the current-generation F-250, we may see similar dimensions as well.
Styling
When it comes to the styling, we have no doubt that the 2021 Ford Excursion would be in a close relationship with its truck sibling. This means pretty much the same front end, with the same headlights, grille, bumper etc. Still, keep in mind that the F-250 could come updated next year, so the same changes may affect the new SUV as well. Still, higher trims look quite luxurious and stylish, so we may see the same on the new SUV. However, we presume that the company will pay much more attention to things like tech and safety features.
The most interesting thing about the 2021 Ford Excursion will definitely be the interior space. Of course, three rows of seats and capacity for 8 passengers are a certain thing. Considering how spacious is the current Expedition Max, we can only imagine how beneficial would be those additional inches in the wheelbase. Without any doubt, the 2021 Ford Excursion would be the most spacious SUV on the market, by a pretty large margin.

Once again, things are pretty clear and we don’t expect any surprises. As you probably know, the Blue Oval company has recently introduced an all-new gasoline engine. It features a displacement of 7.3 liters, so it’s not strange that it has already been nicknamed Godzilla. Besides huge displacement, the engine also delivers plenty of power. A max output goes around 430 horsepower and 475 pound-feet of torque, which seems more than enough to run this huge SUV with ease.
Of course, the current-generation F-250 also comes with the famous 6.7-liter turbodiesel, which has been updated recently and now features monstrous 1.050 pound-feet of torque. Is this too much for an SUV, it’s hard to say. It may be offered in the new 2021 Ford Excursion, but probably won’t.

The 2021 Ford Excursion is nothing more than a rumor at the moment, despite what some reports suggest it may arrive already in the next year.
