The QX80 has been around for a while. However, the latest update clearly indicates that the current model is about to remain in production for a couple of more years. The 2020 model came with the updated interior, while the facelift happened a couple of years ago. Therefore, we are pretty sure that the 2021 Infiniti QX80 will carry on in the same way. Of course, smaller updates in terms of new standard features are always possible, but most of the things are about to remain the same.
This is a pretty capable SUV. Despite being a luxury vehicle, it offers excellent capability. It is quite capable off the road, while we also like its max towing capacity, which goes up to 8.500 pounds. The cabin may look a little bit outdated, but the recent update has brought a new infotainment system, new materials and more standard equipment. Finally, there is a powerful engine, which provides pretty amazing driving dynamics, but which is also a little bit thirsty.

2021 Infiniti QX80 Redesign
When it comes to base design characteristics, this model hasn’t changed much since its launch years ago. Mechanically, it is practically the same vehicle as the Nissan Patrol, which has been around for a full decade. However, that doesn’t make QX80 feel outdated. Moreover, this SUV is amazing to drive. Great dynamics and even better handling make this SUV one of the class leaders when it comes to the driving experience.
On the other side, the model has been significantly updated in terms of aesthetics. That happened a couple of years ago when we saw a completely new styling, based on the Monograph concept. The current model now looks fairly attractive and we don’t expect that bigger changes will happen in the next year. Still, don’t exclude the possibility to see things like new color options etc.

Interior
Despite being a decade old, this cabin definitely has a lot of things to offer. First of all, the recent 2020 update has brought a new infotainment system. The 2021 Infiniti QX80 will continue in the same way and feature the same fancy dual-screen setup. Visually, it is the same approach you can find in several other Infiniti models. There are two touchscreens, one with 8 and other with 7 inches diagonally. The upper is for the infotainment system, while the one below replaces all those physical climate controls. Also, the infotainment system includes Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and several other modern tech goodies.
Other than a new infotainment system, things are pretty much the same as in the initial 2011 model. Therefore, the dashboard may look a little bit outdated, but that doesn’t change the fact that the whole cabin is well-built and that it features pretty high overall quality.
Finally, we like the fact that the cabin is very spacious. This SUV comes standard with three rows and all three rows are adult-friendly. Also, the second-row captain’s chairs are standard, but you can get the bench instead as well. Finally, there is a pretty generous cargo area. You may count on 16.5 cubic feet behind the third, 50 cubic feet behind the second row and more than 95 cubic feet of the overall cargo space. These are above-average ratings for the class.
2021 Infiniti QX80 Engine
When it comes to the powertrain, things will remain pretty much the same. You may count on a well-know 5.6-liter V8, which delivers a quite respectable max output of 400 horsepower. With such power, this large SUV goes from zero to sixty in less than 6 seconds and the overall impression about diving dynamics is pretty impressive. Combined with the best handling in the class, this SUV offers an impressive driving experience. One of the possible novelties for the next year could be a new transmission. We might see a new 9-speed gearbox instead of the current 7-speed unit.
One the other side, a big downside of this engine is the fuel economy, which is among the lowest in the class. You may count on only 14 mpg in the city and 19 mpg on the highway. For consolation, you may count on quite respectable max towing capacity that goes around 8.500 pounds.

Safety
Another aspect where this SUV offers a lot of value for the money is safe. After the recent update, the list of standard safety features now includes advanced systems like automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection and lane departure warning. You can also get things like adaptive cruise controls and lane-keep assist. Front and rear parking sensors, as well as a surround-view parking camera, are also on the list of standard equipment.
2021 Infiniti QX80 Release Date and Price
Considering that we should see any particular change in the 2021 Infiniti QX80, the release date should be scheduled for late 2020. Base models should go around 67.000 dollars.
