There’s no doubt that the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the most anticipated models for the next year. After months of speculation, we finally have some details about the next-generation model. It looks like there is a lot of interesting novelties. The upcoming redesign is about to bring significant changes, particularly in terms of mechanics and base design characteristics. The new model is about to get a completely new platform, which should provide significant improvements in terms of driving characteristics and efficiency. Of course, we count on a new styling, but the fact that the new model will be bigger is far more interesting.
The latest reports suggest that the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee will come standard with three rows of seats. Completely new dashboard design is also about to come, while the powertrain lineup will be a mix of new and old engines. The current model is currently in the testing phase and the mule has been on the road for some time. We expect that the premiere will be scheduled for the first quarter of the next year, while sales should start late in 2020.

2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee Redesign
As we already mentioned, one of the biggest highlights will be a new platform. The 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee will get a bit of Italian blood, as it is about to ride on Alfa Romeo’s Giorgio platform. If you’re not familiar with this name, it’s the same architecture that underprints models like Stelvio and Giulia. However, the new Grand Cherokee will be significantly larger compared to corporate siblings. Therefore, you may count on significant stretching and notably longer wheelbase.
Just a quick look at the test mule and you can easily notice that the new model will feature not just longer wheelbase, but also longer rear overhang. This clearly indicates that we are about to see three rows of seats. The new platform should bring significant improvements in terms of athleticism, fuel efficiency and the overall ride quality.
2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee Styling
Mechanical changes may be revolutionary, but the aesthetics will continue to develop in the same way. Although the testing model still wears a complete camouflage, we are pretty sure that the styling changes will be subtle. This means the evolution of the current look, so we expect to see those familiar vertical bars as the most prominent part of the new SUV. Of course, the rest of the vehicle will also be adapted to modern aesthetics, so we may see a little bit sharper approach, slimmer headlights and similar details. Of course, keep in mind that various versions of the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee are expected to come, so we may see notable differences when it comes to details.
Interior
The interior design is one of the areas that will bring significant changes. First of all, the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee will benefit from the longer wheelbase and bigger overall size. This means you may count on more space on the inside. The testing model clearly shows longer rear overhang, which means you may count on three rows of seats as standard features. A bigger cargo area is another thing we expect to see. This indicates that Chevy Traverse could be one of the rivals.

Besides more space, the new cabin will also come with completely new dashboard design. This SUV never had bigger problems with interior quality, so we don’t expect such issues from the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee either. We expect that a lot of details will be borrowed from the new Ram 1500, particularly in terms of the new, super-large touchscreen at the center stack. Naturally, we count on hi-quality materials all over the cabin and on loads of latest tech features.
2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee Engine
A generous engine offer has always been one of Grand Cherokee’s strongest points and we don’t expect anything different from the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee. We count on a mix of new and old engines. Most likely, a new 2.0-liter turbo-four should be the base engine, while the current V6 should be offered as a mid-level option. Finally, higher trims should carry on with potent V8 engines, including the mighty Trackhawk model.
Those would be the engines we expect for the initial launch. Soon after, the next generation should come with a few more options. One of them should be a plug-in hybrid version, probably with a similar system to one we can see in Chrysler Pacifica. Also, we count on a diesel option, equipped with a familiar 3.0-liter six-cylinder unit. Finally, many reports suggest that FCA is developing a completely new turbo V6 gasoline engine, which should replace Hemi units in the future.

2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee Release Date and Price
We presume that the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee will hit the market in the last quarter of 2020, though a premiere should happen much earlier, maybe already in the next couple of months. When it comes to the price, we presume that base models will cost slightly more compared to the current generation, which starts at around 33.500 dollars.
