The current generation of the legendary SUV is still a quite fresh model. However, that doesn’t mean there is no room for updates at the moment. Moreover, the 2021 Jeep Wrangler is about to come with big novelties as well. We are about to see a plug-in hybrid version, which means that the Wrangler will finally show its efficient side as well.
Other than a new hybrid powertrain, the 2021 Jeep Wrangler is about to carry on in the same way. Base design characteristics won’t change. We are about to see the same overall design, recognizable styling and pretty much the same interior. Of course, you may count on familiar engine options, which means two gasoline and one diesel unit. Considering that the electrified version is about to come, we may see it a little bit earlier than usual, maybe already in the third quarter of 2020.

2021 Jeep Wrangler Plug-In Hybrid
There’s no doubt that the 2021 Jeep Wrangler Plug-In Hybrid will be the biggest novelty for the next year. At this point, we are still waiting for the exact details, but we are pretty sure that the new version will rely on a familiar system. Of course, we are talking about the system that can be found in Chrysler Pacifica, which combines a 3.6-liter V6 engine with a 16-kWh battery and electric motors, for a total output of 260 horsepower.
Besides a decent amount of power, this system is also quite efficient. Besides the very good fuel economy, it also provides 32 miles of all-electric range. Of course, that won’t be possible if the Wrangler is about to keep the same batter. Therefore, we believe that the new SUV will come with more capacity, though the exact details are still about to come.
2021 Jeep Wrangler Engines
The rest of the engine lineup is about to remain the same. Base models will carry on with a 3.6-liter V6 engine, which is good for about 285 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. There is also a new 2.0-liter turbo-four, which is good for about 270 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. That notable difference in torque actually provides better driving dynamics, despite the less horsepower. Finally, there is a diesel version of the popular SUV. Of course, it uses a familiar 3.0-liter V6 turbodiesel from VM Motori, which has been updated recently and now delivers 260 horsepower and 480 pound-feet of torque.
When it comes to the transmission, a six-speed manual is standard, but the automatic gearbox is available as well.

2021 Jeep Wrangler Design
In terms of base design characteristics, this SUV won’t change at all. We are about to see the familiar design, based on something that appeared decades ago. This particularly refers to the styling, which hasn’t changed too much with the recent redesign. The Wrangler still features most of the original design solutions, and we know very well that the styling the strongest sale point of this model, along with excellent off-road capabilities. Like the previous year models, the 2021 Jeep Wrangler will also come in two body styles, as a two- or four-door SUV.
When it comes to interior design, the Wrangler is modern and rugged at the same time. The dashboard combines modern and classic design elements and generally looks pretty attractive. When it comes to the interior space and overall comfort, front seats are quite generous in space, while the second row depends on the version you choose. Of course, the four-door model is much more comfortable. The same thing goes for the cargo area, where the Unlimited is a far better choice.

Features
When it comes to standard equipment, we might see a couple of revisions in the 2021 Jeep Wrangler. Still, most of the things are expected to remain unchanged. Therefore, be sure that standard models will come with a pretty basic list of features. Currently, that list includes things like a 5-inch touch screen, Bluetooth, a USB port, eight speakers, push-button start, and cruise control. Of course, there is much more in higher trim levels, where you can get things like air conditioning, power windows and door locks, remote keyless entry, 7-inch and 8.4-inch touch screens, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, navigation, satellite radio, and a nine-speaker stereo.
When it comes to safety, things aren’t that great. Moreover, a rearview camera is the only standard safety features. Things are a little bit better in higher trims. There, you can also get goodies like blind-spot monitoring, rear parking sensors, forward collision warning, and adaptive cruise control.
Release Date and Price
As we already mentioned, we might see the 2021 Jeep Wrangler a little bit earlier than usual, maybe already in the third quarter of the year. The base price should go around 28.000 dollars, while the tag for the new hybrid model is still unknown. Toyota 4Runner and Ford Bronco are key competitors.
