If you look at Mazda’s lineup, something is obviously missing. Of course, we are talking about the CX-7, the nameplate that has been missing for several years. However, it looks like things are about to change in the near future, as the latest reports are suggesting comeback of this model, in the form of 2021 Mazda CX-7. As you may presume, the new model will slot between CX-5 and CX-9 models, which means standing somewhere between mid-size and compact segments. We expect that the new model will bring a lot of amazing things, both in terms of aesthetics and new technologies. We expect to see the new model by the end of 2020.

2021 Mazda CX-7 Redesign
In terms of base design characteristics, the first thing we should talk about is the style. For someone who isn’t too deep into Mazda lineup, it may look a little bit tricky to put something between a compact and mid-size crossover. However, Mazda already did this with the new CX-30 model, which sits between CX-3 and CX-5 models. In fact, there is much more room in this case, considering that there is a pretty big difference between the current compact and mid-size models. The CX-5 measures 106.2 inches in wheelbase, while the CX-9 goes all away up to 115.4 inches. That’s more than 9 inches of differences, so it seems obvious that there is more than enough space to put the 2021 Mazda CX-7 between these two.
We may presume that the new model will measure around 110 inches in the wheelbase, which is a perfect size for a comfortable two-row mid-size crossover.

Styling and Interior Design
When it comes to aesthetics, we have no doubt that Mazda will continue to improve its gorgeous design language. The new 2021 Mazda CX-7 should go too much different and we count on beautiful appearance, which will make this crossover one of the best-looking models in the class. Of course, a couple of exclusive details are also expected, though it’s still early for such talk.
When it comes to interior design, we’ve already mentioned that the new model will probably feature two comfortable rows of seats. Of course, we count on the hi-quality interior, which has become one of Mazda’s trademarks in the past years. Naturally, the dashboard should be designed in an elegant manner, pretty simplistic, which is the case with other models from the lineup as well. Furthermore, we could see some additions in terms of bigger screens, more multimedia features and similar tech goodies.

2021 Mazda CX-7 Engines
When it comes to the powertrain, we have no doubt that the familiar 2.5-liter turbo-four will find the place under the hood of 2021 Mazda CX-7. This engine is good for about 227 horsepower and delivers a pretty impressive amount of torque, which goes all-away up to 310 pound-feet. Things become even peppier once you pour premium fuel. In that case, a max output goes up to 250 horsepower.
We presume that this will be an optional engine in the new model. Base models could easily come with a new 2.0-liter SkyActive X engine, which delivers around 180 horsepower and features pretty impressive mpg ratings. Both engines should be paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. In Europe and a few more markets, we should see diesel versions and smaller gasoline engines in the offer as well.
2021 Mazda CX-7 Release Date and Price
According to the latest reports, the 2021 Mazda CX-7 could easily come by the end of the year, though the launch may be delayed for the first half of 2021. When it comes to the price, we presume that base models will go around 30.000 dollars.
