In the world of mid-size crossovers, the CX-9 definitely takes a special place. Although formally a model from a mainstream brand, it is actually much closer to something that is called the premium segment. Simply, this model packs so many things in the same vehicle. It’s hard to find a crossover in this price range that combines splendid aesthetics with excellent interior quality while offering a ride quality that allows you to be dynamic and efficient at the same time. It’s hard to explain, but this model is a class of its own and we have no doubt that the 2021 Mazda CX-9 will carry on in the same way. We are about to see a familiar design approach, considering that the current generation is expected to remain in production for another year or two, or maybe more.
We expect to see it on the market sometime in lat in 2020.

2021 Mazda CX-9 Redesign
The current generation of this crossover has been around for several years but it still looks like a brand-new model. First of all, there is Mazda’s amazing styling philosophy, which makes CX-9 arguably one of the prettiest crossovers on the market, including both mainstream and premium models. The famous KODO design language really shines but 2021 Mazda CX-9 won’t just look impressive, but ride amazing as well. This crossover offers excellent handling which, combined with the peppy engine delivers a pretty amazing driving experience. At the same time, it remains smooth and comfortable. All in all, it is hard to expect any more important change for the next year. Still, that doesn’t mean Mazda couldn’t surprise us with some gorgeous new finish again. Other than potential new color options, we expect from 2021 Mazda CX-9 to carry on in the same way.
Interior
The cabin of this crossover looks equally impressive as the exterior. The first thing you’ll notice is that a simplistic design approach, which is fulfilled with beautiful lines and premium materials. Add to this amazing interior schemes and it becomes clear why this is one of the nicest cabins you will find in the class. Moreover, loads of tech features give that additional dose of opulence, especially if we consider the new 9.0-inch touchscreen, which offers very good graphics and works very fast.
Besides plenty of styles, this crossover also offers great comfort. Of course, we are talking about a three-row crossover, which accommodates seven passengers. The first row features massive and supportive seats, while the second is also very generous in terms of space and comfort. On the other side, the third row is typically tight for the segment, so adults won’t feel particularly comfortable here. When it comes to the cargo area, many rivals are better. That’s not hard, considering that the CX-9 features only 14.4 cubic feet behind the third row.

Features
Another reason why 2021 Mazda CX-9 will be on par with most premium crossovers is a generous list of standard equipment. This particularly refers to tech and safety features.
When it comes to tech goodies, all models will come standard with things like a new 9.0-inch touchscreen, USB ports, Bluetooth, Pandora, Stitcher, while we also expect to see Android Auto and Apple CarPlay etc.
When it comes to safety features, all models will come with things like a rearview camera, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and Smart City Brake Support, automatic high beams, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control etc. Of course, there is much more in higher trim levels.
2021 Mazda CX-9 Engine
Under the hood, the 2021 Mazda CX-9 will continue in the same way. While most rivals feature V6 engines, Mazda sticks to a turbo-four. However, this doesn’t mean it’s inferior in terms of dynamics and overall performances. Moreover, this crossover offers some of the best driving experiences in the class.
Of course, we are talking about a familiar 2.5-liter turbo-four engine, which is good for about 227 horsepower and 320 pound-feet of torque. Things are even better if you use premium fuel. In that case, a max output goes up to 250 horsepower, which combined with loads of torque ensures excellent dynamics.
Besides plenty of power and torque, this engine is also pretty efficient and features some of the best mpg ratings in the class. You may count on about 22 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway. Just a few rivals can match these numbers.

2021 Mazda CX-9 Release Date and Price
Considering that there are no bigger changes to come, we are pretty sure that the 2021 Mazda CX-9 will hit the market sometime late in the next year. When it comes to the price, we don’t expect bigger changes either. Therefore, base models should go around 34.500 dollars. Some of the key competitors are models like Toyota Highlander, Honda Pilot, Ford Explorer, Kia Telluride etc.
