The UX is the latest premium crossover by Lexus. The company will add this unit to the existing lineup in 2019. We could see the concept in Geneva, and it debuts in NY Auto Show. Highlights of this vehicle are its economical drivetrain and plenty of luxurious equipment. Although we saw it at the end of March, the 2019 Lexus UX SUV is not yet available for purchase. Buyers need to subscribe to get it on its launch.
The 2019 Lexus UX SUV is coming to the US market. It will be bold, with aggressive grille, as every other crossover by the same manufacturer. The existing Lexus RX 350 will get a little brother, which is going to pick up many similarities from its sibling.
2019 Lexus UX SUV specs
Under the hood of the 2019 Lexus UX SUV will be a 2.0-l inline-four drivetrain. This unit can make 170 horsepower for UX 200 version. Another model is a UX 250 h, which comes with different type of powertrain. It is a hybrid that uses the same petrol mill and two electric motors. One of them powers front axle, and other is driving rear. This combination will deliver 180 hp through a CVT transmission. For 2019 Lexus UX 200 front-wheel drive is standard and AWD optional mode.
Driving assist features and systems
Besides the new engine, the 2019 Lexus UX SUV will get few help features. Drivers will find some of them very useful. Of course, the hybrid unit is getting advanced features, such as Predictive Efficient Drive. The computer calculates and optimizes charging by the habits of driver’s nature, weather and road conditions. Lexus explained this system on the hill drive, where electric motors work more to save fuel. Down the hill the situation is opposite.
2019 Lexus UX SUV styling
The 2019 Lexus UX SUV will continue to use the design language we got used to from this manufacturer. That means bold appearance with a black grille and sharp headlights. Familiar, aggressive shape will be carried to the newest crossover. We must mention the grille once again since its spindle look is the highlight of the exterior.
Interior will get many features we can find on RX 350 and GX 470. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard. The premium crossover will also bring leather seats and different control panel from its siblings. The multimedia touch-screen display is there, but we still don’t know its dimensions. A power tailgate is a standard feature. Also, the 2019 Lexus UX SUV will take the same 10-way power seat from GX 470 and RX 350. Rearview camera and premium audio system with nine speakers are also available right from the base model.
Additional features
First of all, the 2019 Lexus UX SUV is available as the two-wheel drive crossover. So, it leaves an option to upgrade it to AWD. Sunroof is one of the extra features buyers can get through optional packages. There, customers can find heated steering wheel and navigation. The larger screen and 15-speaker audio system will be the priority for geeks.
2019 Lexus UX SUV release date and price
The 2019 Lexus UX SUV came at the Auto Show in New York. Initially, buyers could only subscribe to get it, but the official sales haven’t been started yet. We believe that new UX lineup will start from about $35,000. This is the price for the UX 200 with two-wheel drive. In the all-wheel-drive mode, the cost will probably rise to about $2k. As for hybrid version, we still don’t have any firm info. Fans hope that the company is not going to boost the cost of too much. Whatsoever, we believe that $40k is the minimum price for 2019 Lexus UX 250h.
