There’s no doubt that crossovers are the future of the automotive industry and that refers to luxury manufacturers as well. Therefore, each company tries to expand its lineup with new models of this type. Of course, Cadillac is no exception. According to the latest reports, we are about to see a new flagship model, which should come as the 2020 Cadillac XT9. The new model would be a full-size crossover, probably with an extended wheelbase, as well as with a coupe layout. At this point, the new model is just a rumor, but many experts claim this model will definitely come.
2020 Cadillac XT9 Design
Of course, the first thing that comes to mind is the platform. In this case, things are pretty obvious. The new 2020 Cadillac XT9 will ride on Cadillac’s familiar Omega platform, which is used for pretty much all full-size models of this company, both sedans and crossovers. On the other side, some reports suggest this model might feature a so-called coupe/crossover body style. This means a sloping roof, which gives a little bit sportier stance. At this point, it is still hard to say how likely this sounds. In any case, it shouldn’t affect the interior space too much, as we are talking about a really large vehicle.
Interior
As we’ve just mentioned, the sloping rood design definitely won’t affect the comfort and overall interior space too much. This will be an extended-wheelbase full-size crossover, which in practice means lots of space and standard three rows. Even the third row should be extremely generous in terms of space. Latest reports are suggesting three different seating configurations, for either 6, 7 or 8 passengers.
When it comes to the dashboard design, we count on a lot of inspiration from the current models, though with even more luxury and opulence. Of course, latest tech features are a certain thing, as well as the presence of advanced driver aids, including the company’s new semi-autonomous driving system.
2020 Cadillac XT9 Engines
Considering the platform, there is no place for surprises in terms of powertrain. We presume that the base models will come with a smaller 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 engine, which is good for about 400 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque. On the other side, higher trims should feature a new 4.2-liter V8, which is characterized by impressive efficiency, so a max output goes between 550 and 600 horsepower.
When it comes to transmission, we presume that a familiar 8-speed automatic will be standard. Still, don’t exclude the possibility to see a new 10-speed gearbox as well. Some reports also speculate about electrification but presume it’s still early to talk about these things.

Still, many experts believe this crossover could arrive already in the next year, at least in a form of a concept. When it comes to the price, some rough estimations would suggest a starting price of around 70.000 dollars. Key competitors would be models like BMW X7, Mercedes-Benz GLS etc.
