We are getting ready for the next generation of the legendary full-size SUV. The 2020 Chevrolet Suburban is about to come with lots of novelties. This redesign is about to bring various improvements, as well as a completely new exterior design. Therefore, we have no doubt that the new model will be much more competitive, although we have to say that the current model still marks pretty good sales numbers. With the complete overhaul, the upcoming model is about to come with the new styling.
Also, it will ride on the company’s new platform, which will bring improvements in terms of comfort, performances and efficiency. Finally, some novelties are expected under the hood as well. All this makes us pretty eager about the 2020 Chevrolet Suburban, which should hit the market sometime later in the year.

2020 Chevrolet Suburban Redesign
The upcoming redesign will bring a lot of novelties but the first one we should mention is a new platform. Of course, we count on GM’s new T1 architecture, which already underprints the new Silverado. The popular truck has been redesigned last year and it has brought various improvements. The same thing we expect to see from the 2020 Chevrolet Suburban. One of the first things that come to mind is weight reduction. Thanks to the use of composite and other lightweight materials, we expect that the new model will be lighter for about 300 pounds.
Of course, the new platform will also bring improvements in terms of performances and driveability. Of course, we also count on better efficiency and overall comfort. Speaking of comfort, we expect from the new model to feature an independent rear suspension, at least as an option. The biggest rival, Ford Expedition, already comes with these features, so we expect the same from the 2020 Chevrolet Suburban.
Exterior
In terms of the styling, we presume that the 2020 Chevrolet Suburban will be fitted to the brands latest design language. In practice, this would mean pretty much the same front end as on the new Silverado. Of course, the new SUV will certainly come with several distinctive details, but the overall front face should look pretty much the same. Other than that, the new model will continue in a typical manner. The Suburban is one of the largest vehicles on the market, so we don’t expect to see bigger changes in terms of the wheelbase and overall dimensions. Of course, we count on the same, wagon-like body style, which besides rugged looks also ensures plenty of functionality on the inside. Along with the new Suburban, we count on a new version of its short-wheelbase sibling, Chevy Tahoe.

Interior
Changes on the inside are expected as well. As we already mentioned, the new model shouldn’t come with too big changes in terms of dimensions. Therefore, we could expect to see a similar amount of space on the inside. In the current model, it is huge. This is one of the biggest SUVs around, so it’s no wonder that all three rows of seats are pretty generous in terms of space. The new model will continue in the same way, though we count on completely new cabin design.
The first thing that comes to mind is a new dashboard. Still, if we look at the new Silverado, there is a big chance that we won’t see anything significant, but rather subtle changes. In any case, we count on improvements in terms of the overall interior quality. This particularly refers to finer materials and more attractive color schemes. Another aspect that is about to come with updates and upgrades are new tech features, as well as advanced safety systems and driver aids.

2020 Chevrolet Suburban Engine
According to the latest reports, we are about to see some interesting novelties under the hood of 2020 Chevrolet Suburban. It looks like the new model will come standard with the company’s new 2.7-liter turbo-four. This engine delivers around 310 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque, which seems enough to run this huge vehicle. Of course, the biggest benefits are expected in terms of fuel economy. Still, we presume that most players will stick to proven V8 units. The smaller one is a 5.3-liter V8 that delivers around 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. Higher trims will come with a bigger 6.2-liter unit, which is good for about 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. All engines should come with a new 10-speed automatic transmission.
Some reports are also suggesting a diesel version to be offered. At this point, we are still waiting to hear something from the officials on this matter.
2020 Chevrolet Suburban Release Date and Price
We expect to see the new 2020 Chevrolet Suburban by the end of the year. When it comes to the price, the outgoing model starts at around 51.000 dollars and we don’t expect bigger deviations from the new one.
