Considering that the current, second-generation of this large crossover has been around for less than two years, no one expects bigger updates for the 2020 Chevrolet Traverse. However, that doesn’t mean there won’t be changes. The biggest news is that the turbo-four engine won’t be in the offer anymore, so all models will be equipped with a V6 unit. Also, we could see some tweaks in terms of standard features, trim levels and packages. Other than that, things are about to remain the same. The 2020 Chevrolet Traverse will continue with the same design, which has been introduced in 2017.
Count on the same styling, though new color options seem possible. On the inside, we don’t expect any notable changes, while the list of safety features should be expanded, as the current is pretty subpar for today’s industry standards. In any case, the new model will hit the market sometime late in the year.

2020 Chevrolet Traverse Redesign
As we’ve just mentioned, base design characteristics definitely won’t change in the next year. The 2020 Chevrolet Traverse will continue with the same design, which is based on the extended version of the familiar C1 platform. The same version of this architecture underprints more luxurious Buick Enclave.
In terms of the styling, this model is still pretty fresh for notable changes. It came less than two years ago, with a new styling that follows the brand’s latest design language. Typical for new Chevy models, sharp lines are all around the vehicle, while the front face looks pretty robust and massive, though not as sporty as on the new Blazer. In any case, things will largely remain the same for the next year. The best we could see are new color options.
Interior
Changes on the inside are not expected, at least when it comes to base design characteristics. The 2020 Chevrolet Traverse will continue with the same cabin, which has both good and not so good sides. On one side, this is one of the biggest models in the class. So, it’s no wonder you can count on three spacious rows of seats. Even the third row is adult-friendly, which usually isn’t the case with mid-size crossovers. Also, the cargo area is one of the biggest in class. There are around 23 cubic feet behind the third row, while the overall cargo capacity goes to pretty impressive 98 cubic feet.

On the other side, Chevy continues its struggle with styling solutions and overall quality. Typically for the brand, the dashboard looks okay, but also comes with some pretty unusual aesthetical solutions. Also, many areas feature a disappointing quality of materials. These issues will remain, but we hope Chevy will solve them in the near future, once the time for a facelift comes.
Features
When it comes to standard features, cloth upholstery is standard, but you can get leather in higher trims. You can also get things like heated seats, leather-wrapped and heated steering wheel, power-adjustable seats and many more.
In terms of tech features, there is really nothing to complain about. All models come standard with things like 7-inch touch screen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, six USB ports, and a Wi-Fi hot spot. In higher trims, you can also get things like a bigger 8-inch touchscreen, navigation, satellite radio, wireless charging, Bose audio system and much more.
Things with safety features aren’t that good. Base models come with a rearview camera as the only standard safety features. That is disappointing and we hope the 2020 Chevrolet Traverse will come with improvements in this aspect. Currently, the list of available safety systems and driver aids include things like forward collision warning, forward automatic braking, front pedestrian braking, blind-spot monitoring, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, rear parking sensors, rear cross-traffic alert etc.
2020 Chevrolet Traverse Engines
As we already mentioned, the biggest changes for the 2020 Chevrolet Traverse will be in terms of the powertrain. A 2.0-liter turbo-four engine won’t be in the offer anymore. So, a well-known 3.6-liter V6 will remain the only engine choice for this large crossover. For this occasion, the engine is tuned to around 310 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque. In comes in pair with a 9-speed automatic transmission, which works very good and ensures a pretty smooth ride, though it can be slow with downshifts sometimes.
When it comes to fuel economy, count on pretty typical ratings for the class. The V6 returns around 18 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway.

2020 Chevrolet Traverse Release Date and Price
Since there are no essential changes for the next year, the 2020 Chevrolet Traverse should hit the market sometime in December. Also, the price should remain pretty much the same, which means around 30.000 dollars for the base version.
