The Korean carmaker was known as a budget carmaker. These days, we are talking about a mainstream brand that offers and amazing value for the price. However, it looks like Hyundai is about to go even further. The company wants to make vehicles that would make a closer connection with future buyers. Therefore, we saw a Grandmaster concept last year, which presented a completely new design philosophy of the brand. A year later, we can see that this concept wasn’t just a show-off. The new design language has already been applied to the brand-new Palisade and it looks great. However, it looks like the company won’t stop there, considering that another model is about to come. It will carry the name of this concept car and come as the 2020 Hyundai Grandmaster, according to the latest reports and it will be even bigger than Palisade.
2020 Hyundai Grandmaster Design
In terms of base design characteristics, we already know many things about how the new 2020 Hyundai Grandmaster would look like. First of all, this is expected to be a full-size SUV. Although the Palisade is already pretty large, the new model will be even bigger and, more importantly, more rugged. We are about to see a more SUV-ish stance and despite the unibody platform, this model will compete with full-size BoF SUV. It will also be pretty luxurious, which means it would stand somewhere between mainstream and luxury segment, between models like Tahoe, Expedition and Armada on one side, and models like Mercedes GLS and BMW X7 on the other.
In terms of the styling, we presume that the new model would stick closely to the new design language, which is also known as Sensuous Sportiness, which has been successfully applied to the new Palisade. Of course, we count on a couple of distinctive details in this case.
Interior
As we’ve just mentioned, the new 2020 Hyundai Grandmaster will be pretty luxurious. We count on lots of hi-end materials, which would bring this SUV much closer to the premium segment. In terms of the dashboard design, we count on a lot of resemblance with the new Palisade. On the other side, the 2020 Hyundai Grandmaster would be bigger, which also means more spacious from the inside. Of course, three rows of seats and capacity for eight people would be standard. Still, the third row would be spacious enough to ensure excellent comfort on long trips in this case. Naturally, a spacious cargo area is expected as well. Also, we count on a full load of tech goodies, including things like 10.25-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, USB ports, wireless charging and all other things.
2020 Hyundai Grandmaster Engine
When it comes to the powertrain, we presume that base models would come with the same 3.8-liter V6, which is good for about 291 horsepower and comes with 8-speed automatic gearbox. This amount of power seems enough for a convenient ride, but we presume a more powerful powertrain option would in the offer as well. Of course, we count on a 5.0-liter V8, which is good for about 420 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. This seems like a perfect amount of power for this occasion, though you shouldn’t expect too much when it comes to fuel economy.
2020 Hyundai Grandmaster Release Date and Price
According to some reports, the new 2020 Hyundai Grandmaster could come already in the next year. Still, keep in mind that we are still waiting for the official confirmation and that the company is still pretty quiet on this matter. If it arrives, we presume that the base price would go around 45-50.000 dollars.
