If we look from the perspective of commercial success, the 2020 Jeep Cherokee will be in a quite critical year. The current generation is neither fresh, neither too old for a redesign. Therefore, it will probably carry on without more important changes. Once again, we will see a compact SUV that offers great off-road capabilities, but also comes with several drawbacks. Of course, one of the first that comes to mind is the poor fuel economy.
The Cherokee is also pretty tight in the cargo area, which is a very important thing for an SUV of this size. All in all, there is a mix of strong and weak points and latest reports are suggesting that the next year won’t bring any important change. We couple see a couple of novelties in terms of standard features, but the overall layout is about to remain the same. Therefore, expect to see the next-year model in a typical time of year, sometime in the last quarter.

2020 Jeep Cherokee Redesign
As we’ve just mentioned, the 2020 Jeep Cherokee is expected to carry on in the same way. As it is compact in size, it seems logical that it rides on FCA’s familiar Compact Wide platform and shares many of its characteristics with models like Chrysler 200 and Alfa Romeo Giulietta. One of the most interesting things about this SUV is that isn’t looking as the rest of Jeep’s lineup. The company experimented for a bit and introduced a more futuristic styling approach, with narrow headlights and not so prominent grille.
Unfortunately, this design wasn’t accepted very well, so the company did a facelift a couple of years ago. The new model looks a little bit more conventional, as it gets closers to the company’s familiar styling philosophy. That is probably one of the reasons for increasing sales numbers, despite the fact that Cherokee is getting older, not younger.
Interior
On the inside, the 2020 Jeep Cherokee will continue with its attractive cabin. Despite the age, it still features one of the nicest cabins in a class. It is full of hi-quality materials, while aesthetics are at a high level as well. This particularly refers to the dashboard, which looks very upscale and opulent. When it comes to comfort, this is a typical compact SUV. The front row is generous in space and offers a lot of adjustabilities.

On the other side, the second row isn’t the most spacious in the class but still can accommodate two adult persons with ease. The biggest complaint goes to the cargo area. You can count on about 26 cubic feet behind rear seats and 55 cubic feet of overall cargo space. That are way below-average numbers for the class. For comparison, Honda CR-V offers 76 cubic feet of overall cargo space.
Features
When it comes to standard equipment, there is really nothing to complain about. The 2020 Jeep Cherokee could come with a couple of additions, though the core will remain the same. Base models will come standard with tech goodies like 7-inch touch screen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, pinch-to-zoom capability, etc. Of course, there are numerous upgrades available, including a bigger 8.4-inch touchscreen, satellite radio, navigation, etc.
The 2020 Jeep Cherokee will also be pretty strong in terms of safety features. All models will come with things like a rearview camera and parking sensors. Also, there are numerous available safety systems, including things like forward collision warning, automatic braking, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, rear cross traffic alert, blind spot monitoring, rain-sensing windshield wipers, parallel and perpendicular park assist, automatic high beams, etc.

2020 Jeep Cherokee Engines
There will be three engines in the offer for the 2020 Jeep Cherokee. Base models will continue with a familiar 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine, which is good for about 180 horsepower. It may seem enough for a daily driver but if you want to use all of the model’s spectacular off-roading potential, go for optional engines. There is a familiar 3.2-liter V6, which is good for 271 horsepower, which seems like a perfect measure for an SUV of this size. Also, you can get a new 2.0-liter turbo-four, which offers a similar amount of power as the V6, but notably more torque.
When it comes to fuel economy, this SUV doesn’t stand great. Most rivals offer better fuel economy, no matter the engine you choose. The base four-cylinder unit returns around 22 mpg in the city and 31 mpg, while the V6 is good for about 20 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway. Finally, the new turbo-four returns around 23 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway.
2020 Jeep Cherokee Release Date and Price
Considering that we won’t see bigger changes, the 2020 Jeep Cherokee should hit the market sometime late in the year. When it comes to the price, base models will go around 25.000 dollars.
