The competition in this segment is extremely tough, so it’s no wonder that the 2020 Kia Sportage comes with a major refresh, even though the current generation has been around for just a couple of years. In order to retain strong sales numbers, the Korean manufacturer comes with a full load of interesting changes. Novelties are numerous. First of all, there are notable visual updates on both ends of the car. Furthermore, the new model comes with the trim level reorganization, new interior features and various other novelties. All this should keep this model in the company of best-selling compact crossovers on the market. The new model has been introduced recently and it is already available.

2020 Kia Sportage Design Changes
In terms of base design characteristics, the 2020 Kia Sportage remains pretty much the same. The overall design has been unchanged, as well as the overall shape. Visual changes are subtle, so there is a change that many of them won’t be noticed at all. So, let’s start with the highlights. Of course, the most notable novelties are at the front end. You can easily notice a slightly reshaped grille, as well as a lot of new details on the bumpers. Headlights and fog lights are also new. On the rear side, the 2020 Kia Sportage comes with the new rear bumper. Also, you can see new exhaust tips. From the side, you can see a set of new wheels. More precisely, each trim level comes with new wheels design.
Other than that, the 2020 Kia Sportage is largely the same. Mechanics remained pretty much untouched, while the overall shape is the same. This also includes the same dimensions, so don’t expect any enlargement on the inside.
Interior
On the inside, the 2020 Kia Sportage comes without more important changes, at least in terms of styling. It looks like the company focused on providing more standard features to lower trim levels, rather than tweaking the dashboard and introducing new colors and similar details. Therefore, you can count on the same interior design, which isn’t a bad thing at all.

This crossover features pretty fine interior quality, even with some luxury touches, such as chrome and leather in higher trims. In terms of practicality and functionality, this crossover comes with two quite spacious rows of seats. Even the second row is pretty generous in terms of leg and headroom. Typically for Kia models, the Sportage doesn’t feature the most spacious cargo area in the class. You can count on about 31 cubic feet behind rear seats and 60 cubic feet of total cargo volume, which are below-average numbers for the class.
Trim Levels
The 2020 Kia Sportage comes with a new S model in the offer, so there are now four trim levels in total. The base LX comes with some very important novelty. Of course, the first thing that comes to mind is an 8-inch touchscreen, as well as smartphone goodies like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Also, there is a long list of safety features, which includes things like a rearview camera, a driver attention monitor, automatic high-beam control, lane departure warning and mitigation, and forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection.
The new S trim adds a lot of sporty flavors. Some of the highlights are things like 18-inch wheels, foglights, roof rails, etc. You will also find some interesting interior details, such as flat-bottom steering wheel, paddle shifters, Sofino simulated leather upholstery, etc.
The EX is a big upgrade over two previous versions. It adds things like a panoramic sunroof, a power-adjustable passenger seat, ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, leather upholstery, a wireless phone charger, a navigation system, premium audio system and much more.
Finally, there is the SX Turbo, which comes with the turbo engine, 19-inch wheels, a sport-tuned suspension, larger front brakes, LED headlights, dual exhaust tips etc.
2020 Kia Sportage Engines
The 2020 Kia Sportage continues with two familiar gasoline engines in the offer. Base models come with a familiar 2.4-liter four-cylinder, which is good for about 181 horsepower and 175 pound-feet of torque Such amount of power seems enough for daily use. If you prefer a peppier ride, then an optional 2.0-liter turbo-four seems like a perfect measure. This unit delivers around 240 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. Both engines come with a 6-speed automatic transmission. When it comes to fuel economy, the base engine returns around 23 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway. The turbo engine is good for about 22 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway.

2020 Kia Sportage Price
The 2020 Kia Sportage goes in a range from 24.000 to 35.000 dollars roughly. As we already mentioned, competition in the segment is pretty tough. Some of the key players are models like Toyota Rav4, Honda CR-V, Mazda CX-5, Subaru Forester.
