2020 Nissan Qashqai Gets New Engine and More

Although there were some rumors about an early redesign, it is now pretty clear that the current generation will carry on for some more time. The upcoming 2020 Nissan Qashqai is about to receive a major update. This will be a typical facelift, along with some interesting design mechanical changes, including a new turbo engine. Still, the overall design is expected to remain the same. The current generation has been around since 2013 and we believe it will carry on for a couple of more years. The company already has big plans for the next generation, but we will have to wait for that for a little bit more time.

2020 Nissan Qashqai Change

In terms of the changes, this is a typical facelift. The focus is on visual changes, so the 2020 Nissan Qashqai is about to come with several interesting styling novelties. Of course, the focus in on the front end, which is a quite common thing with these updates. We have no doubt that the new model will come with the updated version of Nissan’s famous V-Motion design language. For this occasion, we count on an even more accentuated grille, as well as on narrower headlights. Some smaller changes on the rear end are possible as well, while the overall shape is about to remain the same. Also, we could see new color options, new wheels designs and similar kinds of updates that are typical for mid-cycle updates.

Mechanically, the 2020 Nissan Qashqai is about to continue in the same way. It will continue to ride on a familiar CMF platform and with same proportions and mechanical parts. Some reports were suggesting possible suspension tweaks, but we didn’t get any detailed information so far.

Interior

The interior layout is about to remain the same. Despite the mid-cycle update, the 2020 Nissan Qashqai won’t feature too many novelties in terms of the interior design. The dashboard will remain largely the same, though some minor tweaks like button reconfiguration are possible. Still, the overall cabin design will remain untouched, which definitely isn’t a bad thing. After all, this crossover features pretty good overall quality. Most materials are soft on touch, while the front seats are among the most comfortable in the class.

When it comes to standard equipment, the current model is already well-equipped, especially in terms of tech features. All models come with things like 7-inch touch screen, satellite radio, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, hands-free text messaging, two USB ports, Bluetooth, and four speakers. Therefore, we don’t expect to see too many novelties for the next year.

2020 Nissan Qashqai Engines

When it comes to the powertrain, the biggest novelty for the 2020 Nissan Qashqai will definitely be a new 1.3-liter turbo engine, which is good for about 160 horsepower. There is also a slightly more powerful 1.6-liter turbo engine, while standard models are about to continue with a naturally-aspirated 2.0-liter unit which delivers around 140 hp. Of course, you can also count on the small 1.2-liter unit, which is good for about 115 horsepower.

Of course, the European version will be available with diesel engines too. There are well-known dCi units, with either 110 or 130 horsepower.

Safety

When it comes to safety features, we could see a couple of novelties for the next year. Still, the core shouldn’t changes too much, so base models will come with things like a rearview camera, rear cross traffic alert, blind spot monitoring, and automatic emergency braking. Currently, the list of optional features includes things like lane departure warning, pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, a 360-degree parking camera etc. Some of these could easily become standard after the upcoming update.
