2021 BMW X1 Release date, Interior, Hybrid, Price

Despite the recent update and the fact that this model is still considered as one of the class leaders, it looks like the company is preparing a complete redesign, which should happen in less than two years. These are the latest reports about this subcompact crossover, which is characterized not only by good driving characteristics and spacious interior but also by some things that aren’t so typical for this manufacturer. This particularly refers to the excellent predicted reliability ratings. Therefore, expectations from the new 2021 BMW X1 are pretty big.

We count on improvements in all aspects, though we have to say that the current model is already pretty amazing in most of them. As we’ve just mentioned, the new model is expected to come in less than two years.

2021 BMW X1 Redesign

Like we’ve already mentioned, a lot of improvement is expected with the new model. Still, we don’t expect to see any radical changes in the new model. Changes in the 2021 BMW X1 will be rather evolutionary. First of all, we won’t see a completely new platform, but rather an updated version of the current UKL platform. Therefore, you may count on familiar design characteristics, which are shared with Mini Countryman in a quite portion. Still, we may see a couple of new design solutions that will provide some weight savings and other things that will have a positive impact on fuel efficiency and overall performance.

2021 BMW X1 Styling

The upcoming redesign will bring styling changes as well. We have no doubt that the new model will rely on the recently redesigned 1 Series model, particularly at the front. That means we won’t see any radical aesthetical change but rather an evolution of the company’s design language, based on the famous kidney grille layout.

The overall shape will remain pretty familiar, though some reports suggest we may see changes in terms of the size. The 2021 BMW X1 might become slightly bigger, according to the latest reports. The current model measures around 105.1 inches in wheelbase and it is one of the more comfortable models in the class, so we probably won’t see more significant changes in this aspect.

Interior

Of course, a new cabin will be an integral part of this redesign. AS we’ve just mentioned, the new model should be slightly bigger, which means we might see a little bit more space, especially in terms of legroom. The cargo area could get a couple of cubic feet as well. Still, keep in mind that the current model is already pretty generous in terms of the interior space, so we probably won’t see a more significant increase.

On the other side, we count on a completely new dashboard layout, which should be pretty much the same as in the new 1 Series. This means a new layout, highlighted by a new large 10.25 touchscreen and other attractive novelties.

2021 BMW X1 Engines

When it comes to the powertrain, the current models come with a 2.0-liter turbo-four that delivers around 228 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. This engine will probably remain, though we count on a slight power increase. Also, we count on a hi-performance version, with the famous M badge, This model would probably feature around 300 horsepower.

In the rest o the world, the crossover will also be available with a smaller 1.5-liter turbo-three engine, as well as with a couple of diesel units. Among them, a 1.5-liter three-cylinder is the first one that comes to mind. It delivers around 115 horsepower. Also, there is a bigger 2.0-liter turbodiesel, which comes in three output variants, with either 148, 188 or 228 horsepower.

Hybrid

Another big novelty we expect to see in the new 2021 BMW X1 is electrification. Such versions of these crossovers are already available on markets like China and come with systems based on a 1.5-liter gasoline engine. We may presume that these models would be upgraded, though it is still unclear whether these models will finally come to the U.S. market or not.

Moreover, we might even see an all-electric version in the offer. The all-electric X3 is already on its way, so we don’t see any reason why something similar shouldn’t be offered in this crossover as well. More details should be known in the near future.

2021 BMW X1 Release Date and Price

The 2021 BMW X1 still waits for the official confirmation, so we can’t talk about anything more precise. On the other side, we may speculate about the price. The current model starts at around 35.000 dollars, so we may presume the new model won’t feature much different starting prices. The competition in the segment is pretty tough. Some of the key rivals are models like Mercedes-Benz GLA, Audi Q3, Volvo XC40, Lexus UX and others.
