The next generation of the popular full-size SUV is in an advanced stage of development and we expect from it to be ready for the next year. One of them is a major weight reduction. The new model is about to save more than 300 pounds, which will definitely have a great effect on efficiency and overall performances.
Another important novelty for the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe will be an independent rear suspension. This feature is becoming a common thing among full-size SUVs these days, so we presume that the new Tahoe will offer it as a part of standard equipment, just like it’s the case with the biggest rival, Ford Expedition.
Styling and Interior Design
Although we are still waiting to see renderings, we know what to expect from the new model when it comes to styling and interior design. There is no doubt that the new model will stick to the company’s new design language, established by the new Silverado 1500. The 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe will come with the almost identical front end, with just a couple of distinctive details. Those fancy air curtains will find their place on the new SUV. On the other side, the overall shape shouldn’t change too much. Yes, new aesthetics will come, but the overall shape shouldn’t be a bigger departure from the current model.
Still, we count on changes in dimensions. The new model is expected to grow for a bit, particularly in terms of the wheelbase, which should be notably longer. Such change would definitely bring a lot of improvement on the inside.
Speaking of the interior design, the current model has one big drawback – it isn’t the most spacious model you can find in the class. Moreover, the third row is surprisingly tight, so we presume this enlargement will solve the problem. Besides more space, the new cabin will also come with a new layout. We count on new aesthetics, which should go in the same direction as the new Silverado. Therefore, don’t expect any radical change, but rather evolutionary design, with a couple of new styling solutions and improvements in terms of materials’ quality. Of course, we also count on a bunch of tech novelties. The new infotainment system and a load of advanced safety systems seem certain. Some reports even suggest semi-autonomous drivings systems in the offer.
2021 Chevrolet Tahoe Engines
This is definitely one of the most interesting aspects of the upcoming redesign. Latest reports suggest that we are about to see two new powertrain options. Starting from the next year, this large SUV will come with a new base engine. That should be GM’s new 2.7-liter turbo-four, which delivers around 310 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque. Seems like a decent amount, but this engine could also have a positive impact on the starting price.
Another huge novelty should be a diesel option. Allegedly, the new SUV is about to come in a version with a 3.0-liter inline-six diesel engine, which delivers around 280 horsepower and 440 pound-feet of torque. Benefits in terms of fuel economy seem obvious.
Other than that, the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe should carry on with two familiar V8 units. Those are well-known 5.3- and 6.2-liter engines, with a max output of 355 and 420 horsepower, respectively.
2021 Chevrolet Tahoe Release Date and Price
We expect to see the new model sometime in the second half of the next year, most likely in the third quarter. Considering that there is a new four-cylinder engine to come, the base price could be a little bit lower compared to the current model, which starts at around 48.000 dollars.
