The current generation of the super-spacious crossover has been around for a couple of years and it looks like its time for updates. According to the latest reports, the 2021 Chevy Traverse is about to receive a mid-cycle update. We are about to see a lot of changes in different aspects. Not only that the new model will get updated styling, but we also count on novelties on the inside, where we should see revisions on the dashboard, as well as a full load of new features. Finally, there’s a chance to see a new powertrain option in the offer.

2021 Chevy Traverse Exterior
Of course, the most notable will be exterior changes. Although the current generation has been around for just a couple of years, it looks like it would need changes. Simply, the current styling doesn’t actually follow the brand’s latest design language. Therefore, we count on a new front face. The test mule of the 2021 Chevy Traverse already rides on the street. However, we can’t tell anything more precise about the styling details, as there is still a lot of camouflage.
Still, we may presume that the new face will be quite similar to the new Blazer, which established a new styling philosophy of the brand. That would mean a lot of changes at the front, a completely new grille, headlights, bumper and more. A couple of changes are expected at the rear end as well. We count on new taillights, while a few tweaks to the tailgate are possible as well.
Interior
Although bigger interior changes aren’t a usual thing with mid-cycle updates, the 2021 Chevy Traverse is expected to come with some of them. Simply, the current model doesn’t feature the interior quality you would expect from a model that has to compete with Honda Pilot or Toyota Highlander. There is a lot of low-rent materials, while some of the surfaces feature pretty odd styling solutions. Therefore, we count on a couple of revisions in this aspect. Other than that, the cabin is actually pretty amazing.
This is probably the largest crossover you can find on the market, with an impressive amount of space. You can count on three spacious rows of seats and even the third one can comfortably accommodate adult passengers, which is a rare thing for the class. Also, the cargo area features a total volume that goes just slightly under 100 cubic feet, which is a spectacular rating for the class.

Features
Another aspect where we expect novelties is the list of standard features. This particularly refers to safety, where base models aren’t generous at all. A rearview camera is practically the only standard feature in the base model.
Still, things are much better if you pick some of the more expensive models, where you can get loads of modern systems, such as adaptive cruise control, a surround-view parking camera system, a rear camera mirror, forward collision warning, forward automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, lane departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, lane keep assist. We hope that some of these will become standard after the upcoming refresh.
On the other side, the current model stands pretty good in terms of tech features. All models come standard with things like a 7-inch touch screen, six USB ports, Bluetooth, a Wi-Fi hot spot, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. In higher trim levels you can also count on things like a bigger 8-inch touch screen, navigation, a 10-speaker Bose audio system, satellite radio, wireless charging and more. All in all, we expect a couple of updates, but don’t expect any significant expansion of standard equipment.
2021 Chevy Traverse Engines
When it comes to the powertrain, we don’t expect changes, at least when it comes to base models. The 2021 Chevy Traverse will carry on with a familiar 3.6-liter V6 engine, which is good for about 310 horsepower. It comes in pair with a 9-speed automatic transmission and ensures a quite convenient ride, with decent acceleration and overall performances. Also, the fuel economy is pretty good. You may count on about 18 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway.
A turbo-four option has been discontinued recently. However, there is a chance to see a new version of this engine in the offer. The new engine features the same displacement but slightly less power. On the other side, it should provide much better mpg ratings.

2021 Chevy Traverse Release Date and Price
We expect to see 2021 Chevy Traverse sometime in the second half of the next year. The price shouldn’t change too much, so base versions should go around 30.000 dollars.
