The Telluride is one of the freshest models in the segment. Given the recent launch, it definitely seems competitive in one of the toughest segments of the automotive industry. This crossover plays on several truck cards. The first thing that comes to mind is its size and interior space, which promise a lot of comfort and functionality. We also like the look, as well as that even the most basic models come with loads of standard equipment. On the other side, the current model comes with just one engine in the offer and that is the aspect where we can see some novelties. The 2021 Kia Telluride may come with some interesting novelties.
Of course, new powertrain options are the first thing that comes to mind, but we could also see some smaller updates in terms of standard equipment, as well as things like new color options.

2021 Kia Telluride Specs
As we already mentioned, the current model comes with just one engine in the offer. It is a familiar 3.8-liter V6, which comes in pair with 8-speed automatic transmission. This unit is good for about 290 horsepower, which seems more than enough to provide solid driving dynamics and a convenient ride. Also, it features a quite decent economy, which goes around 20 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway. Those are quite average numbers for the class.
Without any doubt, the current Telluride rides well. Still, multiformity is the way to attract a wider range of buyers, so there’s no doubt that the Korean carmaker will strive to offer additional powertrain options as well. At this point, it is unclear whether new powertrain options will be ready for the 2021 Kia Telluride or not. In any case, we could on some form of electrification, probably a V6-based hybrid system. Also, it won’t be a surprise if we see this crossover in a combination with some smaller, turbo-four engine.
2021 Kia Telluride Redesign
In terms of base design characteristics, the 2021 Kia Telluride definitely won’t change. This model was introduced just recently, as the 2020 model year and it is a brand-new crossover. Moreover, it is the largest vehicle Kia has ever made. With its 114.2 inches in wheelbase, there’s no doubt it belongs to the class of genuine three-row mid-size crossover. After all, it features a bigger distance between the wheels than models like Honda Pilot, Toyota Highlander etc.
Mechanically, this model borrows a lot from Sorento but comes with completely new aesthetics. The visual appearance should be one of the model’s strongest point and we doubt that any particular change will come in the next year. The 2021 Kia Telluride will carry on with a distinctive, SUV-like design that introduces Kia’s completely new design language. We presume that future Sorento will come with a similar face as well.
Interior
Older generations look at Kia’s cabins as cheap-looking places, full of plastics and strange design solutions. However, these times are gone. The Telluride looks impressive from the inside, with some of the nices cabins in the class. Soft-touch materials are all around the cabin, while the dashboard looks very opulent.

The thing we like even more is the interior space. This model comes two very spacious rows of seats. Interestingly, the second row is even roomier than the first one, with an impressive 42.4 inches of legroom. The third row isn’t as comfortable as the first two rows but seems more than enough practical for everyday use. Finally, there is a generous cargo area. With 21 cubic feet behind the third row and 87 cubic feet of overall cargo space, there is no doubt that we are talking about one of the biggest cargo areas in the class.
Features
When it comes to standard equipment, every model comes with Synthetic leather and power-sliding-and-folding second-row seats. Additionally, you can get things like leather upholstery, power-adjustable front seats, heated and ventilated first- and second-row seats. Also, second-row captain’s chairs are available too.
In terms of tech features, we presume that the 2021 Kia Telluride will carry on in a pretty much same way. Base models will definitely come standard with things like an 8-inch touch screen, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, a six-speaker sound system, Bluetooth, and six USB ports, but we may see some additions as well. When it comes to optional features, you can get a bigger touchscreen, navigation, wireless charging, premium audio system and more.

2021 Kia Telluride Release Date and Price
Considering that there are no bigger changes to come, except for possible new powertrain options, we presume that the 2021 Kia Telluride will probably hit the market sometime in the last quarter of 2020. Also, we don’t expect bigger changes in price, at least when it comes to the current version with a V6 engine, which currently starts at around 32.000 dollars.
